Having envelopes of soup mix on hand is a good thing to have in your pantry for emergencies, especially since it is very healthy and gets your vegetable intake up in an emergency situation where getting a balanced diet is important.
This recipe is the equivelant of one envelope of vegetable soup mix (which we use in our rice pilaf recipe for your emergency pantry).
1/3 cup vegetable flakes (purchase flakes in bulk department or make your own with assorted dehydrated vegetables)
1 tablespoon cracked wheat
1 tablespoon small pasta, or break up larger pasta pieces
1/4 teaspoon dried parsley
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
salt and pepper, if desired
You can make as many “envelopes” as you like, these fit well in the small ziploc bags, but you will want to vacuum seal them if possible so they keep even longer.
